Description
Galadino – Red Italian Wine
Wine of Italy
Type of Closure: Synthetic Cork: Supreme
Current Vintage: NV
Producer: Schenk Italia
Grape Variety: Montepulciano
Winemaker: Egidio Finazzer
Agent: Buckingham Schenk
Vinification Details: The grapes are firstly crushed which allows the must to extract colour and tannin from the skins. Fermentation then occurs at temperatures between 22 – 25°, during which the skins are racked and returned to the liquid several times to extract flavour, structure and stability. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation, before being filtered and fined, and finally bottled.
History: The winery is situated in the best growing areas in Abruzzo for the traditional indigenous Montepulciano grapes. The grapes are grown in selected sites that reflect the terroir capturing the good cherry and mulberry flavours.
Regional Information: The DOC region of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is surrounded by mountains, with peaks of up to 9000 feet above sea level. The vines grown on the hillsides benefit from good exposure to sunlight and cooling Adriatic-influenced breezes. The best sites are located towards the north of the region, situated at higher altitudes and where the soils are less fertile.
